THE RELATIONSHIP OF CHARACTER EDUCATION IMPLEMENTATION AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS by Jacques S. Benninga, Marvin Berkowitz, et.al. In this study we found that, though character education criteria were stated in the CSRP application, schools responded to those indicators in quite varied ways. Some ignored character education completely in their written applications and others had fully developed, well conceptualized program descriptions. It appears from this diverse sample of schools, that those schools addressing the character education of their students in a serious, well-planned manner tended also to have higher academic achievement scores.
