1 - Consider what you, and your team hope to gain by having a common format for lessons or units you plan and implement.
2
- Check your list, from above, against the following:
- Create and benefit
from a common vocabulary concerning instruction and instructional improvement
- Build a 'bank' of very easily accessible lessons / units addressing key standards, for use each year by yourself
and others
- Remind yourself of past successful strategies, and emerging 'best
practices' to consider as you plan
- Make it easier to meet mandates for
lesson planning and instruction
- Document the 'covering' of accountability
oriented instructional standards
3 - Review your school or system lesson format and identify key
elements, add elements important to you, and create your own modified, improved format (which includes any mandated elements).
4
- Discuss the emerging format and the important elements and purposes with your team and your supervisor.
5
- Send a copy of your emerging lesson/unit format to me at richardbenjamin7@gmail.com so
I might get better at helping others.
